We have a number of events that Scouts and parents can sign up to attend.  It helps our Youth Leaders and Adult Leaders with planning for events when everyone signs up - stating that they are attending or not attending.  This is important for all of our events.  Especially when we have to purchase food and pay fees.  So, look at our calendar of events, and RSVP.

This can be a difficult time for a scout to make decisions on which extra-curricular activity is the highest priority to attend.  Scouts, sports, band and even church outings all come into play.  We offer a campout once per month and so that means there are three other weekends to participate in other activities.  We are not all consuming every weekend like other activities.  At times it may seem that way with Eagle Service Projects, and hikes, but our number one activity each month is the campout.  At the troop meetings the patrols are focused on preparing for the next campout.  All of our scouts in a position of responsibility have a requirement to attend our campouts.  They have accepted the position with the expectation to attend the PLC, weekly meetings, and monthly campouts.  All of our campouts have advancement built into them.  The campout is where advancements occur.  But in order for scouts to advance, they need to attend – both those needing the advancement, and our senior scouts to teach, review, and sign off on the completed requirements.  We have scheduled board of reviews to occur on the Tuesday after every campout so that Scouts can advance in rank.  All of our dates are posted on our website and a one-page calendar is located in the files section.  We do encourage a balanced approach to Scouting with other extra-curricular activities.  Follow the Scoutmasters Blog at:  https://troop1518.wordpress.com/
