The process of starting a merit badge

Posted on Sep 20 2016 - 5:34pm
As a reminder for all scouts.  When you want to start working on a merit badge you need to obtain the "Application for Merit Badge", commonly called the "blue card."  You can obtain a blue card from myself or any of the assistant scoutmasters.  When you do request a blue card, you must let us know what the merit badge is that you wish to start working on.  Additionally, if you already have a merit badge counselor in mind whom you are planning to work with, you must let us know who that is as well. It is our responsibility to make sure that the merit badge counselor is on the Council list of approved counselors.  If you do not have a counselor in mind, just let us know that and we will find one that you can contact.
If the troop is offering a merit badge for all to work on, you still must request a blue card, do not expect the counselor to provide one just because you showed up for their class.
